ALL DOWNHILL, ALL THE CITY HIGHLIGHTS BY BIKE

We meet you at the port and drive you to the top of Mt Cargill Road (350mASL). This area is surrounded by beautiful native bush and plenty of native birds with their distinctive calls.

Here we custom fit you on your bike, give you a map with our suggestions for the best biking day ever. Prior to your ride, you may choose to experience a native bush walk to the stunning geological feature locally known as the Organ Pipes. We provide you with a lock so you can check this walk out at your own pace.

Once on the bike, you will enjoy spectacular harbour views (see above) as you coast 5km along quiet paved roads ALL DOWNHILL to Dunedin, New Zealand’s oldest city.

Along your route, there are many interesting tourist destinations, such as Baldwin Street, the world's steepest street, Botanic Garden and Otago University.

In the city, visit the tourist highlights of Dunedin Railway Station, Victorian architecture, museums, cafes or check out the fantastic array of street art by following the Dunedin Street Art route (maps available).

You can also bike to local city beaches for a stroll along the beach, swim or a coffee overlooking Dunedin’s St Clair beach.

Whatever you’re into, whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or beginner, this self guided itinerary is accessible for all.
